Valentine socks

For my Valentine sock, I have chosen (drum roll please): the training sock

I hope it doesn't seem like I'm wimping out here. I went shopping for red sock yarn and found some bright and beautiful red, but after several tries and dropping stithes and all but throwing the lot out the window, I opted for the training sock. I'll still do them in a nice pinky red worsted weight yarn and with bigger needles, and maybe someone can wear them for Valentines Day (maybe Celeste!), but maybe they'll be completed and won't end up thrown across the room. I have about 3/4" in ribbing done and am hoping for the sock addiction to set in...

Hehehe! Don't feel bad! I can't do socks either. Actually I can do everything but the heel and I could probably do that if I put my mind to it. But I'll just tell you that I can't knit socks either, just to make you feel better.
If that doesn't work, is there a none-knitter around? Maybe you can tell her that you can't knit socks either! Oh well!
Maybe I'll go for a different approach.
Go go go! You can do it, yes you can. If you can't do it no one can! Gooo Kathleen(doing a kick in the air and waving my pom-poms.)!!!!

How very brave of you. Be prepared to do four of them if you want Celeste to wear them. That should perk you right up. I honestly think that Christmas stockings are the better way to learn since they don't have to actually fit a foot, you don't have to make a matching one and they're enormous so you can see what's happening.

Have you looked online for directions for doing socks on two circular needles? Eliminates the yarn sliding off the DP's and lots of people think it's easier. Just a thought.

Hang in there, new sock knitter, you can do it! It doesn't matter if they turn out a bit big, they are great for bed socks, lounge socks, boot socks, etc.

Don't give up. Once you get the hand of it . . . watch out!
