A few pics

Well, I've had a long, dry, uninspired spell. Actually, I'm still spinning on the teal Romney fiber, and am working on the 3rd 100 yard skein of lace weight. I like it, and it's not boring, but it's taking a loooong time, especially since I'm working 6 days a week and some odd hours.

It's coming up on Christmas, and I have some traditional Peruvian Christmas ornaments and a little nativity scene. Last year, I showed you my nativity scene, so this year, I'll show you my little New Year's house:

I'm not totally up on the significance of the house and all it's details, but it seems to be a very popular thing for Christmas.

I also have my Madonna and Child, in a traditional ceramic form:

Again, I'm not up on the significance of the form (maybe the Black Madonna?), but I liked her, so I brought her home.

Coming this weekend - more Romney spinning, hopefully some photos from the local artisan market, and some finished projects.

I like both, your New Year's House and the Madonna House, they look very nice. Do they do a lot of outside decorating for Christmas in your country? I think here in the USA they tend to over do it a bit.

I like both of the items, I have never seen the house or anything like that. I like the colors and the slightly offscale, tipsy look it has.
I'd love to see the granny square elephant. Do you have a pic posted somewhere?
Take care
Vicki

The New Years house is a very happy-looking sort of ornament, but I really like that lovely round Madonna and can understand your being drawn to it. Will you cook a big dinner on Christmas Day or go out to friends?

Wow. The Madonna and Child is really beautiful. I can see why you cherish it.

Margaret, people don't decorate outside much here. Mostly, I think becuase things get stolen so quickly around here. If you happen to leave anything unguarded, it will be gone in the blink of an eye. It's a shame, but that's the way people are here. Very few are honest. They are quite nice and very friendly, but sticky-fingered.

Vickie, no, I don't have a picture of the elephant. I made her as a Christmas gift for a niece and never thought to photograph her. Hmm. Guess I'll just have to make another one! The only stopper is where I could find some nice fiberfill stuffing for her.

Honora, I think we'll just have dinner at home. Christmas doesn't seem to be a big deal to O - not as big of a deal as it is to me - so we'll just put up the mini-tree, light a candle, and make dinner for the two of us. Maybe have a glass of wine while we're decorating the flat.

Greenwoman, if you think the Black Madonna would survive the postal service, I'd be happy to send you a small one!
