So here are some photos of the experiment of knitting with roving, so far (and a little peek at Flyte.) I like it, but I need to devote a little more time to it. This is how it's going so far:

a little progress
I've never been able to stick to just one project at a time. I've been playing with the rovings bag, knitting little here and a little there. I've also been spinning on two sets of batts, and I've got a crochet project in the works, too. Project ho, here. And, I've been reading. I'm in the middle of the second volume of the Septimus Heap series, Flyte. I know, it's a kid's book, but it's also a LOT of fun. And I like fun with no strings attached. A kid's book - just what I need for these gray, damp and fungusy, dreary winter days!

It looks beautiful. This might be a little like knitting with single Plötulopi (Icelandic unspun). A little fragile but entirely doable and very pleasant.
Thanks for that photo. I was so curious to see what knitted roving looks like (it looks a lot like what my spinning will look like - which started as a total mess but is S.L.O.W.L.Y. becoming more consistent. SLOWLY.)
I think I'm supposed to wash it? I'm going to have to do some more research.

I can't get over how beautiful the colors are. I have not done any work with yarn for several years and am not up on the neat colors.Sounds like me with all those projects roaming around in my head. I have lost my cool, calm existence since staring to blog. Too many challenges out there.

The knitting -looks like fun!
I am glad to know I am not alone in liking some kids books. My favorite series is the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper. I love to knit or weave or whatever with it on my cd player. I also have knit with roving but found it didn't hold up so well. Maybe it wasn't well knit, and yours will be fine... let us know as time goes by.
I think that knitting with roving is beautiful so soft and fairy like.
